What is UL fire classification?

UL fire classification refers to the categorization and rating of materials and products based on their performance in fire tests conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent safety consulting and certification company. These classifications provide valuable information to architects, builders, and manufacturers for ensuring that structures and products meet specific fire safety standards.

Understanding UL fire test methods

Class D: Materials that have not undergone fire testing or do not meet the requirements for a specific UL fire classification.
